February 13, 2008Ten Bands You Need To Know.
I have a website currently being built called Kat Scratch. It is aimed towards helping local and underground punk bands get their name out there. I thought to kind of honor the website, I would put together a list of bands I enjoy that aren't as popular as you would think they would be. Possibly this list would give you an idea on what to expect from my website, and find your next favorite band.
This is the ultimate list of bands you need to know. 10. The Dresden Dolls ![]() The Dresden Dolls are actually pretty popular in the underground music scene. They have opened up for bands like Panic At The Disco! and Nine Inch Nails. They finialy did one of their first headling tours during January, and I had the honor of seeing them live on my birthday. Amanda plays Piano while Brian plays drums... But they definitly do not limit their creativity to only those instriments! The Dresden Dolls are one of the most entertaining and amazing bands I have ever seen live or heard. Myspace.com/theDresdenDolls 9. The Phenomenauts ![]() The photo is as strange as the band is, honestly. The Phenomenauts are a Rockabilly Punk band from California. They write songs about comming from outter space and being robots, but still maintain a fun sound thats fast and old fashion. They remind me of the Mifits when Danzig still sang, but with more of a newer fresh strange sound! myspace.com/thephenomenauts 8. Jack Off Jill ![]() Jack Off Jill is no longer around, but their sound will forever live on. I love this band so much, they have such a dark sound with dirty lyrics. I could listen to them all day long. In the 90's, they used to play shows with Marilyn Manson [when they were still called the Spooky Kids]. They were only able to put out two albums before they officialy broke up. All girl band, they will turn your world upside down. Myspace.com/JackOffJill 7. Lower Class Brats ![]() Call them punk, rock, or what ever else you want the Lower Class Brats will blow you away. As many other Clockwork bands, they write songs that relate to the movie and other songs that have to do with sex and well punk. LCB has been around since 1995 and haven't exactly took the band seriously until just recently. They have an amazingly strong fan base, and they never fail to put on an amazing show. myspace.com/lowerclassbratsrule 6. Two Ton Boa ![]() If I could describe Two Ton Boa in one word it would be 'WOW.' This band opened for the Dresden Dolls during their January tour, and I was blown away... Completely. Sherry [lead singer] has such an amazing voice. They did a cover song of 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane and Sherry's voice almost matched that of Grace Slick's. There were no guitars present during their set, only two bass guitars. One of the Bassest actually wore high heals and stomped around on stage, which just amazed me to see a man do! Myspace.com/2TonBoa [oh heres a picture of the bassist playing in heals!!!] ![]() 5. The Toasters ![]() THE TOASTERS!! One of my all time favorite ska bands! If you listen to ska, than you would definitly know this band... This band has been around since 1981, and they are still playing shows! They have such fun beats that make skanking in the pit much more exciting, I can't wait to see this band yet again! myspace.com/toasters 4. Gogol Bordello ![]() Gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello are on a roll. I first heard this band off of a Warped Tour completion disk, it was their song 'Star Wearing Purple.' They have such an interesting sound, I don't really know what to compare them too. They call themselves Gypsy punks, but the only real way you could understand their music is to listen to it!!! myspace.com/gogolbordello 3. The Horrors ![]() Alot of people are finding The Horrors, but still here in America they aren't as known. I love how old fashion this band is, they have an amazing surf sound. If you haven't listened to the Horrors yet, you need to as soon as possible! myspace.com/thehorrors 2. 7 Shot Screamers ![]() 7 Shot Screamers are a local Saint Louis band, and probably one of my favorite bands ever. They mix glam, rockabilly, psychobilly, and rock all in one! From songs about confusion to hookers, they are definitly a band to love! myspace.com/7shotscreamers 1. Big D & The Kids Table ![]() Oh boy... Big D & The Kids Table, perfect mixture of punk and ska. Aside from The Dresden Dolls, Big D has played one of my favorite shows ever! They have been around since the 90's, and they are not slowing down for nothing! From their songs bashing rich and scene kids, to songs about girlfriends on drugs and partying, Big D belongs to be #1 on my list. They're just so friendly and easy to love! myspace.com/bigdandthekidstable

December 2, 2007Rondelle Interviews The Plastic Lemons!
This is from my bands buzznet!
PlasticLemons.Buzznet.com Did they come from outer space, or are they just a little messed up in the brain? The Plastic Lemons have taken Hotel Erotica and elephants to a whole new level! They have remained a mystery for quite some time, and they are finialy coming out of the closet! My name is Rondelle, and I am lucky enough to be able to interview the famous bowl of fruit! Rondelle: So what kind of music is it exactly that you do play? Kasi: We play anything that reminds us of lemons basically. Sara: Or anything that sounds good. We just follow our hearts! R: What is the story behind the name? K: Well it was the first time I ever stayed over Sara's house, and we were on the internet and I was on the phone with my friend when I noticed a bowl of fruit on her counter. I noticed they were lemons, plastic lemons. I than stated that only rich people own plastic fruit, and I called my friend on the phone a plastic lemon and asked him if he liked "HARD... PLASTIC... LEMONS!" he wasn't sure on how to respond. Since than, its all been fruity. S: AMEN! R: How did The Plastic Lemons become a band? S: I don't remember, Nick P was our inspiration! K: Yeah, he raped a mother fucking alien! R: wow, thats strange! R: The Plastic Lemons seem to be famous for the lyrics to the song "Butt Secks On Da Betch, Drankin Cho Wataz Neckod." Tell me a bit about the backround of that song. K: Well, its a very emotional piece. It is basically about my struggle with an adiction to lemon juice and how I ended up in rehab. I later escaped and landed on a stranded beach naked where I met Cj, and boy did he love butt sex! S: AMEN! R: Is Cj actually in the band? S: Derderder... K: Cj has a horrible sex adiction and usually just comes to a few shows here and there... Like I mentioned before, he loves butt sex. R: Alright, enough about the band. Tell me what you guys like to do on your off time. K: We love to have intimate dates with ourselves... S: AND MASTURBATE ELEPHANTS TOO! R: Masturbate elephants? Where did you learn that? S: Youtube. R: What are your favorite pick-up lines? K: -turns to sara- Hey baby, can I slay your dragon? S: Only if I can enter your castle! S: ARE YOU A CHICKEN FARMER? CAUSE YOU RAISED MY COCK! R: ...Wow. K: Do we scare you Rondelle? R: Just a bit. R: Sara, I notice you're wearing Heelies... Why is that? S: They're hot! K: Only lemons wear them... S: They're signature! R: I recently read in Fruity Tuty about Lemon Couture by the Plastic Lemons. Tell me a bit about your merchandise... K: We make clothing for everyone to wear... S: Somedays, we wake up and feel the sour citris of lemons and just want to look hot! K: So we decided to help those in a fashion crisis and turn them into zombies! R: If you could be someone famous for one day, who would it be? S: Abraham Lincoln! K: Yeah, he was hot! I would be like Ron Jermey... S: Yikes! K: Well, its either him or Scooby Doo! R: Well I believe thats all the time we have for today, you guys have a show to do! Any last words? K: I'm a dude! S: Hes a dude... K: Shes a dude, S: WE'RE ALL DUDES HEY! K: Thanks for interviewing us! R: Anytime, can't wait to see your show! R: Well, Until next time ADIOS! K: NO DON'T GO RONDELLE! S: RONDELLE, COME BACK RONDELLE! K: DON'T LEAVE US!

November 21, 2007Five Bands That Changed My Life.
We all have bands that influence us to provoke change or push us from a drastic time in our lives. These are the top five bands that help me drift away from the person I hated being.
5. No Doubt ![]() I started listening to No Doubt in 4th grade, I wanted to be just like Gwen. What I always loved about them was the fact that their music was so happy and fun to dance and sing along too. There is no doubt [haha] that this band introduced punk and ska music into my life... That may not sound very life changing, but at the same time I started listening to No Doubt, I was hooked on the idea Nsync would be together forever and Britney Spears would reply back to my fan mail... Yeah I did write to Britney Spears hahahahaha. 4. Streetlight Manifesto ![]() This band is far more than just amazing. They have the darkest lyrics any Ska band has ever had, they sing about suicide and other dark emotions. A few members from Catch 22 and other ska bands, they formed Streetlight. What I really love about this band other than their lyrics is the fact that they actually care about their fans. Their music is so inspirational and the greatest pick-up when your down in the gutter. That'll Be The Day: "So hey: i don't care if you go now or if you stay oh your back is bleeding, you're bleeding on me that'll be the day when the sun falls down the angels may weep but i'll hear no sounds but hey" You can't say thats not an amazing verse. 3. Green Day ![]() Green Day helped me become excited about life. When I was in 7th grade I had no friends, I did nothing but sit in my room and listen to Green Day. They helped me find what I liked and they helped me stand up for myself when kids teased me about the music I listened too. This was the year American Idiot came out so I seemed to find a few kids at school that had a common love for them as I did. It felt nice having someone to talk too. 2. My Chemical Romance ![]() Before going into 7th grade I was not the happiest child in the world, infact I was extremely depressed. I found My Chemical Romance on TV on a commercial they were doing for Warped Tour to promote their latest album at the time "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge." They were the escape I was looking for. The band that wrote songs about the evils in life and told amazing stories. The person who would tell about how he had no friends growing up and only had music and art, such as I did. The hero everyone knows they can relate too. The band that made me feel like one of the army, a group, I was no longer alone in the world. I found love. 1. Aiden ![]() When 8th grade started up, I saw their video for "Last Sunrise." I thought Wil looked like a rat and he danced really weird, but I loved it. Nightmare Anattomy didn't come out yet until that October and I bought it, ferther falling in love with them. I might of had MCR and other bands, but I didn't have one I could relate to as well. At this time period in my life I was on the verge of suicide, and have common thoughts of it. I still failed to make friends and I couldn't stop people from bashing on me and pushing me into lockers. After listening to Aiden, I knew that wasn't the right thing to do, to take my life. Aiden shaped me into the person I am today: I care about others along with myself. I learned how to ignore the mean comments, and Aiden was my main inspiration for starting Let Me Be Real. I don't know what I could do without them. Everytime I see them live, meet them, or even hear them I know who I am and I know who really pushed me to live and love my life. There you have it, the top five bands that changed my life. List yours!
